Born in Aachen in 1938, Professor Arno Gego is one of the most eminent figures in international course design. He has been a course designer since 1958 (regional, 1965 national, 1972 Chief assistant Olympic Games Munich, 1973 international, student of Hans-Heinrich Brinckmann); Official Technical Delegate respective Course Designer at the Panamerican Games, Caracas (1983), Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, World Championship, Aachen (1986), World Cup Final, Tampa (1989), Panamericanos, Havana (1991), the Balkan Games, Istanbul (1995), Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and longstanding Course Designer CHIO Aachen ( starting in 1954 as chief assistant Course Designer). He has acted as director, advisor and/or Course Designer of numerous new projects including CSIO San Marino Pavarotti International (1991), CSI-W Monterrey (1992), Derby La Bagnaia (1993), CSI-A Valkenswaard (1994), CSI Istanbul (1996), and has been involved in the design of new arenas, stadiums and showgrounds around the world. In 1992 Arno Gego became one of twelve FEI Official International Course Designers. He has been a Member of the Board of CHIO Aachen since 1991. He co-founded the Aachen School of Course Design in 2004 for the further improvement, promotion and development of high-level course design in co-operation with Leopoldo Palacios and Olaf Petersen.
Arno Gego is a Professor of the Aachen University of Technology and the author of many internationally published scientific papers.
He lives in Aachen, is multilingual, married and has two sons.
